The largest outdoor festival on the Palos Verdes Peninsula is coming up on Saturday, September 26, and every dollar of it goes to the seventeen schools of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.

Get the name right when you search for it. It is Toast on the Coast, not Toast the Coast. There is an unrelated Orange County event using the second name, and searching for it will land you in the wrong county.
What it actually is
Live music, food tastings from local restaurants, wine, craft beer and cocktails, and a live auction, spread outdoors across the Malaga Cove School grounds on a Saturday evening in September. Past years have run a VIP area and a main stage.
The setting is most of the appeal. Malaga Cove sits at the northwest corner of the Peninsula where the hill first rises out of the Beach Cities, and a September evening there is about as good as outdoor weather gets in this part of California.
Where the money goes, which is the part worth understanding
The Peninsula Education Foundation exists because California funds its public schools at a level that does not match what Peninsula families expect of them. PEF raises private money and grants it to the district.
That is not a Palos Verdes peculiarity. Nearly every high-performing public district in the South Bay has a foundation behind it doing the same work. It is one of the less noticed facts about buying into a strong school district here: some of what makes it strong is raised locally every year, by people who show up to things like this.
PEF funds after-school enrichment, summer school, teacher grants, STEM programming and senior scholarships across the district.

When is Toast on the Coast 2027?
Not announced yet. The Peninsula Education Foundation had not published a 2027 date when this was written, and we would rather leave the line blank than guess. The pattern is a Saturday evening in late September or early October: October 5 in 2024, September 27 in 2025, September 26 in 2026. We will update this page when the foundation posts the date.

This is a good first one. It is outdoors, it is not black tie, and the entire Peninsula turns out for it, which makes it an easier introduction than most fundraisers.
