The work started in 1984, when Raju Chhabria moved from Bangalore and answered a newspaper ad for a real estate job in Palos Verdes. The job turned out not to exist. He stayed for the peninsula anyway, earned his license, and spent the next four decades selling it.
In June 2012, REAL Trends and The Wall Street Journal ranked him number ten in the United States by individual sales volume in The Thousand, on closed volume of $187,766,574 for 2011. He was with Shorewood Realtors at the time. He went on to develop property across the South Bay and to build the practice his sons run today.
In June of 2025, the South Bay lost a true real estate influencer of the original kind when Raju was sadly lost to us. The standard he set is the one this office still works to.

Across the principals of this firm, $2.15 billion in sales is verifiable in CRMLS records going back to 1994. We quote that figure rather than a larger one because it is the number we can show you.
That figure is a floor, not a total. It counts only what the MLS holds, so it excludes off-market and privately negotiated sales, and it excludes everything transacted before the MLS record reaches back. The real number is higher. This is the part of it we can substantiate, which is the part we are willing to publish.
What the record looks like in practice is the Peninsula first, then the Beach Cities. It is a narrow geography on purpose.
