Nike After Dark Tour Road Closures: What Closes October 24 and How to Get Around

Map of the Nike After Dark Tour Los Angeles 13.1 course in red along the coast from Hermosa Beach through Redondo Beach to Torrance, with the start and finish on North Harbor Drive, beside the race date, Saturday, October 24, 2026, and closure times of 4:00pm, 5:00pm and 10:00pm.

Updated October 16, 2026. The Nike After Dark Tour half marathon runs Saturday, October 24, 2026, starting at 5 p.m. on North Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach. Streets on the race route start closing at 4 p.m., North Harbor Drive closes before that, and Hermosa Beach’s plan has its streets open again by 10 p.m. If you live near King Harbor, along Hermosa Avenue or on The Strand, get your driving done before 4 p.m. or plan to stay in until about 10.

When is the Nike After Dark Tour?

Saturday, October 24, 2026. The race venue at 161 N. Harbor Drive, Redondo Beach, opens at 2 p.m., the race starts at 5 p.m., and the venue closes at 10:30 p.m., according to the race’s Los Angeles page. The same page also says the last return shuttles leave at 10:30 p.m. and, in its transportation answer, lists the venue closing at 10:45 p.m. Bib pickup in Redondo Beach runs Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, from 1 to 9 p.m., with a late pickup Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Runners have a four-hour course limit. The race was built for women, welcomes all runners, and is sold out.

Which roads close, and when?

Map of the Nike After Dark Tour Los Angeles half marathon course in red, starting and finishing on North Harbor Drive at King Harbor in Redondo Beach, running south on Catalina Avenue and the Esplanade to Paseo de la Playa in Torrance, then north to Hermosa Avenue and The Strand in Hermosa Beach, with the drop-off zone on Hermosa Avenue marked in green.
Red is the course, closed to traffic from 4 p.m. Saturday, so plan any driving around King Harbor, Riviera Village or Hermosa Avenue before then.

Nike’s race page says streets on the route close beginning at 4 p.m., and that North Harbor Drive, which holds the start and finish, will already be closed before runners arrive. The start line is on North Harbor Drive south of Beryl Street. The course leaves King Harbor, runs through Torrance, then up into Hermosa Beach and back to King Harbor. Nike’s course map shows the route leaving North Harbor Drive on Beryl Street, heading south on Catalina Avenue to Torrance Boulevard, past the pier on George Freeth Way, then down the Esplanade to Paseo de la Playa in Torrance, where it turns near Palos Verdes Boulevard. It comes back north through Riviera Village on Catalina Avenue and the Esplanade, continues up Catalina Avenue to Herondo Street, and crosses into Hermosa Beach. The City of Redondo Beach expects the race to affect the Redondo Beach Pier, the harbor, Riviera Village and adjacent coastal residential neighborhoods.

In Hermosa Beach, the route Nike presented to the City Council in April runs north on Hermosa Avenue from Herondo Street, loops downtown on 10th Street and Beach Drive, continues north on Hermosa Avenue to 25th Street, then turns south on The Strand back into Redondo Beach, as Easy Reader reported on April 17, 2026. Nike told the council rolling closures there would start around 4:45 p.m., with full closures by 6 p.m. and every road reopened by 10 p.m., according to The Hermosa Review’s April 15, 2026 report on City staff report 26-PR-016.

In Torrance, the race page names Palos Verdes Boulevard as one of two points where runners behind the cutoff are redirected, and Nike’s course map turns the route there, at the south end of Paseo de la Playa. The other is Herondo Street, where runners behind the cutoff turn onto North Harbor Drive to finish without entering Hermosa Beach. Nike has not posted a street-by-street closure list for Redondo Beach or Torrance, and it says route changes go up on the race website. Check that page Saturday morning before you head out.

How do you get around on race night?

  • Drive before 4 p.m. If you need to get out of the harbor area, downtown Hermosa Beach or any block along the route, leave before the closures start and plan on coming home after 10 p.m.
  • Move your car off Hermosa Avenue. Nike’s April plan suspends on-street parking along Hermosa Avenue during the race.
  • Use the official drop-off zone. For rides, rideshare and pickups, Nike sends everyone to northbound Hermosa Avenue between Lyndon Street and 2nd Street, near Herondo Street, the closest area outside the closures. Allow at least 15 minutes to walk to the venue. Nike’s course map also runs up that block of Hermosa Avenue, so confirm the timing with the community line below before you count on it after 4 p.m.
  • Plan on no parking at the venue. There is no race parking at the start or finish. Runners book parking and shuttles from El Camino College, the Redondo Beach K Line station and the Harbor Gateway Transit Center through their participant accounts.
  • Hermosa Beach residents with closed streets: in April, Nike proposed a free shuttle for residents who need to leave or come home during the closures, booked ahead. Call the community line below to ask how to sign up.

Can you watch the race?

Yes, for free, from designated areas on the course and from the east side of North Harbor Drive at the finish. The post-race party is ticketed. In Hermosa Beach, Nike’s plan makes Pier Plaza the main cheer zone, and runners pass through it twice near the end of the race.

Who do you call with a question?

The City of Redondo Beach sends public questions to the race’s community line: (310) 765-9016 or [email protected].
