Where is Peninsula Center?

Peninsula Center is the commercial heart of Rolling Hills Estates, gathered around the junction of Silver Spur Road and Deep Valley Drive near the middle of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It is the closest thing the Peninsula has to a town center. Every one of the four cities up here is overwhelmingly residential by design, so the shops, the cinema, the grocery runs and the professional offices concentrate in this one place. Worth noting that Silver Spur, immediately adjacent, is a separate area 176 despite sharing the road name, so a search scoped to one will not return the other.

Peninsula Center holds the Peninsula’s main concentration of shopping, dining, professional services and its performing arts venue. The Promenade on the Peninsula and the surrounding Deep Valley Drive blocks carry most of the retail. The Norris Center for the Performing Arts is here too, in Rolling Hills Estates, which is worth stating plainly because it is routinely and incorrectly listed as being in Rancho Palos Verdes. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Holiday Parade of Lights is held on the first Saturday in December, run by the City of Rolling Hills Estates, along Silver Spur Road and Deep Valley Drive. Road closures begin around 4pm. Rolling Hills Estates also runs its City Celebration in September at the Empty Saddle Club, and the Mayor’s Breakfast Ride in May, which starts at Chandler Park and finishes at Ernie Howlett Park.
