Which South Bay Emergency Vets Are Open 24 Hours?

Four hospitals in the South Bay stay open overnight. Knowing which one before you need it is the point.

Verified October 2, 2026

Four. VEG Manhattan Beach, VEG Torrance, ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals South Bay in Torrance, and VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Lawndale. Addresses and numbers are below. Put one in your phone now, while nothing is wrong, because the night you need it is not the night to be comparing addresses on a screen in a dark car.

Which emergency vets are open 24 hours?

VEG Manhattan Beach. 1800 North Sepulveda Boulevard, Suite 100, Manhattan Beach. (310) 521-6365. Open 24 hours, seven days, including holidays. Walk in, no appointment needed.

VEG Torrance. 25210 Crenshaw Boulevard, Suite 105, Torrance 90505. (310) 596-1345. Open 24 hours.

ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals South Bay. 2551 West 190th Street, Torrance. (310) 320-8300. Open 24 hours. This is the hospital local general practices name as their own after-hours referral, which is a useful signal about where your own vet would send you.

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center. 15926 Hawthorne Boulevard, Lawndale 90260. (310) 542-8018. Open 24 hours. Named as the after-hours referral by Manhattan Beach Animal Hospital.

Which one should you drive to?

The closest one, in most cases. All four sit within a short drive of each other across the flats, and in an emergency the time in the car matters more than the feature list.

The one thing worth knowing in advance is that ACCESS is a specialty hospital rather than an urgent care. If your animal needs surgery, imaging or a specialist overnight, that capability is already on site. If you are not sure which you are dealing with, call on the way and let them tell you where to go.

What about cancer care and other specialties?

Veterinary Cancer Group South Bay handles chemotherapy, radiation, surgical oncology and palliative care for dogs, cats, pocket pets and exotics. 2551 West 190th Street, Torrance 90504. (310) 693-5890. Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Read those hours carefully, because it shares an address with ACCESS South Bay. Being at the right building at 2:00 AM does not mean oncology is available. It is not an emergency service and it is not open overnight.

What should you have ready before you go?

Your own vet’s name, and your animal’s rabies certificate, which is also the document that gets you a license in whichever city you have landed in. If you are new here and have not sorted that yet, licensing works differently in every South Bay city and the clock usually starts the day you take up residence.

Worth adding the number of whichever hospital is closest to your contacts tonight rather than the next time you think of it. The four above are the whole overnight list for the Beach Cities and the Peninsula.

A note on VEG Manhattan Beach

Recently a member of our team had to make the decision no owner wants to make, and she made it at VEG in Manhattan Beach. The staff were extraordinary. They kept her with her pet the whole time, explained every option without hurrying her, and left her the room to say goodbye properly. The human side you meet behind our local businesses is a real part of what living here is like.

The four hospitals open around the clock are listed with addresses and hours in The Local’s Guide to Pets in the South Bay, alongside the shelters and the licensing deadlines. Download it here.
